What if Lincoln won't make a Continental because Bentley uses the name!?
They could use V-12 or Zephyr or Premiere, I suppose, but they don't have the same recognition.

Doesn't explain why they won't make a RWD sedan though.

Both Bentley and Lincoln have used the name for decades. The only thing stopping Lincoln is it would require a good billion dollar investment to do a Conti right, and Ford doesn't have the cojones to do that.

I like the Zephyr name more. Also, V12. How hard can it by to cobble two Ecoboost v6s together?

Bentleys used the name in the 50s and 60s. There was a time when Lincoln and Bentley made Continentals concurrently.

Volvo and BMW each sold a model called the 740 at the same time. Very different cars, obviously, so I doubt it caused any confusion.

Well, what if Bentley has to stop using the name because it's the same one used at so many hotel breakfasts?
